Experiential field courses for students - Discover Eden
The company Discover Eden has put together some exciting short-term fieldwork opportunities for International undergraduate and recent graduate students to gain valuable field experience in the conservation field in South Africa, Kenya, and Ecuador. These opportunities are based on our combined experience working in research and conservation and our passion for providing experiential opportunities for early career researchers to gain hands-on practical experience and to understand better the range of career opportunities available in the conservation arena.
We had a fantastic season with our experiential learning field courses in 2024, with over 70 participants from 32 academic institutions from 8 different countries participating. Students found the courses meaningful, complementary to their university courses, and highly practical, with many skills being developed.
We have these exciting options for your students in 2025:
14-day Marine Biology field coursein South Africa
• 17-day Big 5 conservation experience in South Africa
• 16-day Ecology South Africa course
• 16-day Ecology Kenya course
• 11-day Ecology Ecuador course (Faculty-led option only)
These courses can be booked directly by students who join mixed institution groups on set dates or as a faculty-led course booked by your department.
Discover Eden is well-placed to see your students’ expectations for meaningful field experiences fulfilled. We now have great partnerships with over 100 universities globally that share these opportunities with their students, and around 17 now assign credit to participating students.
